The Edinburg Children’s Hospital Foundation was formed in 2007 by a dedicated group of citizens who shared a common goal—to support the healthcare needs of children in the Rio Grande Valley.
The foundation teamed with Edinburg Children’s Hospital, the Rio Grande Valley’s only freestanding pediatric hospital, and through fundraising efforts, provides assistance to medically challenged children who require additional services to re-enter their homes. A substantial portion of funds raised goes to purchase medical equipment that helps children cope with their illnesses, and health programs that help prevent healthy children from becoming ill.
The Edinburg Children’s Hospital has initiated many programs, including a free flu vaccine clinic in collaboration with Kohl’s Cares®, a back-to-school family health fair with Edinburg Children’s Hospital and an area car seat drive. Most recently, the Edinburg Children’s Hospital Foundation has focused on asthma education, and now looks toward educating the youth and parents of the Valley about obesity prevention. The foundation continues to look for new ways to make a positive difference in children’s health in the Rio Grande Valley.
